Professor Paudayal completed M. Sc. Geology from Tribhuvan University (1990-1993), Ph.D. (1999-2002) from Vienna University, Austria, and Post Doctorate (2007-2009) from Senckenberg Research Institute, Frankfurt am Main, Germany. He has authored more than 65 research articles published in national and international journals and two books related to Geology. He has been teaching in the Central Department of Geology since 1994. He served as the Vice-President of Nepal Geological Society (2012-2013). He was Chief Editor of the Journal of Nepal Geological Society (2016-2017) and Chief Editor of the Bulletin of Department of Geology, Tribhuvan University (2018-2019). He has received ÖAD fellowship (Austria), American Association of Stratigraphic Palynologist Award (USA), Alexander von Humboldt
