Welcome to Central Department of Geology, Tribhuvan University (CDGLTU), Kirtipur, Kathmandu. The CDGLTU is committed to produce excellent manpower in Geology for more than four decades. The graduates from this department are working in different sectors of Nepal Government such as Department of Mines and Geology, Department of Electricity Development, Department of Water Resources and Irrigation Water and Energy Commission Secretariat, Water Resource Research and Development Center, Nepal Electricity Authority, Rastrapati Chure-Tarai-Madhesh Conservation Development Board, Campuses under Tribhuvan University and several private organizations related to mineral industry, hydropower and underground tunneling excavations.
The CDGLTU offers two Master's (M.Sc.) programs in Geology and Engineering Geology at its premises. The main objective of Master's programs is to prepare students to be able in systematic mapping and identifying mineral and ground water resources, identifying natural hazards and design the mitigation measures. In the period of total four semesters there are mandatory fieldworks for 2 months and additional fieldworks for about one to two months related to their dissertation topics. Submission of dissertation is mandatory at the end of fourth semester.
